AHAM Certified

AHAM Certified

What is AHAM?

The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) is the trade association of the home appliance manufacturing industry. Its members include the manufacturers of portable room air cleaners.

AHAM Certificate

AHAM Standards

AHAM is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Standards Development Organization. AHAM develops and maintains technical standards for various appliances to provide uniform, repeatable procedures for measuring specific product characteristics and performance features. AHAM standards are also recognized by many regulatory agencies including the U.S. Department of Energy in its appliance efficiency test procedures. In the public interest, AHAM members voluntarily adopt standards to assist consumers in comparing appliances and to establish common understanding between manufacturers and consumers.

What is a CADR?

The AHAM seal (usually found on product packaging) will list Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) numbers for tobacco smoke, pollen and dust. The CADR indicates volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner. The higher the ratings, the faster the unit filters the air.

Follow our suggested room size specification:

If your room size is smaller than the suggested room size, the unit will simply clean the air faster. If your ceilings are higher than 8 feet, choose an air cleaner rated for a larger room.
